Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was crowned Best
Midfielder offensive line in the Spanish league season 2013-2014 beating former
Sevilla line and current Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic and Atletico Madrid midfielder
line Koki.
Iniesta was not able to travel to the Spanish capital Madrid
to attend the awards ceremony of the Spanish league last season, and instead of
him taking the prize for the sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta of the Catalan
team.
The sporting director for Barcelona after receiving the
award said: "On behalf of Andres thank you for this award, you know that
he is injured and this award no doubt will help him to recover better, thank
you."
Iniesta made a wonderful season with Barcelona despite not
achieving the Catalans to the league title, and the international Spanish is
carrying the team on his shoulder with the absence of Leo Messi last season due
to injury.
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone also achieved the
best coach in the Spanish league season, beating Award for 2013-2014 at
Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde and Rayo Vallecano coach Paco Jimz.
Argentine coach said after getting the award: "I want
that I share this award with two technical who works to achieve all the
successes."
He added: "I want to share this award with the players,
Courtois, Gabi, Miranda, Koki .. they were important to achieve these
successes."
Simeone led Atletico Madrid to the Spanish league title
after an absence of nearly 20 years, plus it was close to achieving the
Champions League after reaching the final in Lisbon.
