Barcelona plans to build the third-largest stadium in the world and uses the help of its fans

FC Barcelona confirmed its intention to build the third-largest football stadium in the world with a capacity of 105 thousand spectators, according to the Spanish newspaper "Marca".
It is expected to decide the club's Catalan board in the first half of January next year whether to increase the current capacity stadium "Camp Nou" or whether it will build a new stadium altogether. If the Governing Council decided to build a new stadium, it will be in the area of Avenida Diagonal, on private land at the University of Barcelona.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the cost of the process of increasing the capacity of the stadium "Camp Nou" ranging between 250 and 400 million dollars, while the cost of building a new stadium may be up to 800 million dollars.
If Barca succeeds in reaching a capacity of stadium to the number to 105 thousand spectators, will be the world's third largest in terms of capacity after Rungrado May Day Stadium in North Korea which has a capacity of 150 thousand spectators, and Saltlake Stadium in India, which can accommodate up to 120 thousand spectators.
On the other side, Javier Faus Barcelona vice-president said to a local radio station on Tuesday that the champion of the Primera Liga football fans will be asked to choose between the renewals of the club's current stadium or build a new stadium.
Faus confirmed that the board is supposed to meet on January 20 to study the proposals, which will increase the capacity of the stadium from 98 000 to 105 000 spectators before resorting to a vote of the masses.
Faus said, referring to the Camp Nou, which was founded in 1957, "we exclude minor changes because this is more complicated and the worst of the masses, which will lose 12 000 seat."
"I will not take the decision and will return it to the masses. Club can get between 100 and 120 million euros a year and a half of this could be spent on the project and the rest is on the athlete to prepare things surrounding us."
