Catalan club rejected the idea of the construction of a new
stadium and will renew construction of the Camp Nou at the moment.
Barcelona champion the Primera Liga refused to option to
build a new stadium and will work to renew the current home in the Camp Nou.
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell told a news conference
Monday that the club members who collectively they have a chance at the
beginning of next April to vote on the proposal will increase the capacity of
the largest stadium in Europe to 105.000 spectators instead of 98 000
spectators.
The project also includes construction of a new outdoor
playground basketball is expected to cost about 600 million euros (814 million
dollars), and the work will begin in 2017 and end in early 2021.
And Barcelona intends to get loans from banks worth 200
million euros and is expected to get 150 million euros from the sale of rights
to the club face.
And will be covered by existing resources at the club to
cover the rest of the cost value.
The stadium will continue to host matches during the
renovations, which will see the addition of a new roof for the terraces.
Rosell said, referring to the club's stadium, which was
opened in 1957: "This is a difficult decision; the Nou Camp is part of all
of our memories and the largest stadium in Europe and the Icon city of
Barcelona."
He added: "We refused the option of building a new
stadium in a new location because the final cost may strain Barcelona club
members with debts."
Earlier , Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo Indicated, Qatar
Airways intends to present a formal offer to Barcelona for the development of
Qatar's name next to the Camp Nou, where it becomes named "Camp Nou
Qatar" instead of "Camp Nou".
The newspaper said the company sponsoring the Catalan club
intends to provide 350 million euros for the Spanish champions in the previous
season to a successful presentation.
