Argentine Gerardo "Tata” Martino resigned from coaching
of Barcelona after the failure of the latter to retain the league title after a
draw at home to Atletico Madrid 1-1 on Saturday in the final stage.
Martino said that did not hold in the Catalan club for more
than a season: "I want to announce to you that by mutual agreement with
the club, no longer we are coaches Barcelona," a reference to him and the
coaching staff.
The resignation of Martino, former coach of the New Wales
Old Boys Argentine, which signed last July contract for two seasons with the
Catalan club successor to the late Tito Vilanova, who resigned from his post
due to his deteriorating health, after it came out Barcelona from the season empty-handed
as they lost the cup final against arch-rivals Real Madrid and came out of the
quarter-finals of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid, who
