Belgian Thomas Vermaelen still has not yet appeared with the
Barcelona first team since joining the Catalan.
The former Arsenal defender who commissioned cabinets of
Blaugrana nearly 15 million euros arrived to his new team with a long history
of injuries suffered in recent seasons.
The Catalan newspaper "Sport" mentioned to great fear
swirling inside Barcelona because of the return of Vermaelen to stadiums,
Belgian defender had passed a medical successfully upon arrival and then the
day after the club issued a statement confirming that he needs to recover from
a hamstring injury in his right leg.
The Catalan club announced after a month and a half of
joining Vermaelen that he had received medical clearance and that he can train
under the orders of Luis Enrique, the latter had confirmed in a press
conference that he should not rush to return the Belgian international.
What was feared by Enrique has actually happened, the player
suffered a setback and returned again to train individually and this situation
has raised doubts in the club and the public in a defender assigned to cabinets
in the club 15 million euros.
The newspaper "Sport" said that Vermaelen is
currently recovering from an injury to the adductor muscle , where the
principle of medical services in the Catalan club believe that the current
injury is not serious and can be joined to the exercises in the next few days.
Even so, the defender deal raises considerable controversy
among Barcelona fans, especially with the problems suffered by Vermaelen in
recent years with Arsenal, where during the last four years he spent about 456
days injuring with the "Gunners".
